What Is Pilates?

Pilates is a unique, intelligent and functional exercise. Pilates works from the inside out by strengthening the core. Today many exercise “gurus” and personal trainers are focusing on the core muscles. But Joseph Pilates was concentrating on the core over 60 years ago. While other exercise methods focus on isolating one muscle group at a time, Pilates is a total body workout. It utilizes multiple muscle groups simultaneously, creating a complete workout that integrates the upper torso and lower body with the core.

With a strong commitment and consistent practice regimen two or three times a week, you can achieve many benefits including:

Improve posture and flexibility
Develop longer, stronger and leaner muscles
Develop core strength and stability
Enhance mobility
Improve balance and coordination
Improve movement awareness and range of motion
Increase energy and vitality
Increase mind body awareness and concentration
Enhance self-awareness and self-confidence
